Two girls die after jumping from vehicle

Two schoolgirls were killed and two others injured after they jumped off a speeding pick-up near Karimod village of Charki Dadri district today. The victims have been identified as Poonam, a Class IX student and Anju, a student of Class X. They belonged to Karimod village.

The victims had reportedly hitched a ride in a pick-up truck from their school in Badhra town after they failed to get a bus. However, the pick-up driver did not stop at the intended destination even though the girls yelled the driver to stop the vehicle. As a result, four schoolgirls jumped from the speeding pick-up.

Eyewitnesses chased down the vehicle at some distance. By then, the accused had fled leaving the vehicle behind.
