Panipat, September 25

A woman and her son reportedly died when a fire broke out at a factory on the Gangapuri road in the wee hours here today.

The deceased have been identified as Shamshida (36) and her son Anas (8). They were residents of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh and were living at Panipat district’s Ugrakheri village.

Sources said the fire broke out at the factory around 4 am. The fire fighters found their bodies after the fire was doused.

“About 15 labourers were working in factory when the fire broke out. Shamshida was working at the first floor with his son Anas. While others ran out of the factor, Shamshida was trapped. She called for a help, but in vain,” said an eyewitness.

Vivek Chaudhary, SDM and DSP Jagdeep Duhan (Headquarter) reached the spot to inquire about the incident.

Chandnibagh SHO Jaspal Singh, said: “A case has been registered against two persons — Ramesh and Yash Nandwani — on the complaint of Shamshida’s husband Israr.”

Israr alleged there were no safety arrangements in the factory due to which his wife and son died, the SHO said.

Vivek Chaudhary, SDM, said owner of the factory had been directed to submit the documents concerned to the factory.
