Two-day theatre festival begins in Pithoragarh

PITHORAGARH: A two-day festival on parallel cinema and classical plays organised by the district administration for the people of Pithoragarh town started on the occasion of World Theatre Day today.

A two-day festival on parallel cinema and classical plays organised by the district administration for the people of Pithoragarh town started on the occasion of World Theatre Day today.

Senior BJP leader Rajendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the programme called ‘Fest Pithoragarh’ at the district auditorium. The event began with a kathak presentation by renowned classical dancer from New Delhi Hemant Guruji.

“The programme aims at promoting parallel cinema and theatre in the district,” said Aabshar Baksh, a representative of Bhav Rag, Tal, Natya Academy, which is the cosponsor of the festival.

According to district administration sources, besides presenting a play ‘Malvikagnimitra’, of ancient Indian play write Kalidas, several short and long films based on the realities of life will be shown in two days.

“Films which are scheduled to the screened in two days time are—’Tea spoon’, ‘Dayen ya Banyen’, ‘Janey Bhi Do Yaroo’, ‘Nainsukh’, ‘Printed Rainbow’, ‘Kathahar’, ‘The Day He Sleeps’, ‘After Glow’, ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’ and Akhon Dekhi,” said Adhish Chauhan, CDO, Pithoragarh.
