Two-day remand for PO held in U’khand

A local court sent a proclaimed offender (PO) to police custody for two days today. He was wanted by the police since October 11, 2015, police headquarters DSP Bir Bahadur said here.

The DSP said the proclaimed offender had been arrested by the PO cell of the police from Karan Prayag tehsil in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Sunday and was produced before the local court today.

The DSP said the accused, identified as Vindu Raj Badyal of Salooni area in Chamba district, had been booked by the police under Sections 147, 149 and 427 of the IPC at Bharmour police station. But the accused was not appearing in the court summoned from time to time. As a result, the court had declared him as a proclaimed offender, the DSP added.

However, further investigation in the case was underway, the DSP added.
