Two chain snatchers held

The Uttarakhand police arrested two youths allegedly involved in a number of chain-snatching incidents here today. 

Acting on leads which it got through CCTV footage linked to a chain snatching incident at Vivek Vihar in Dehradun on April 10, the police nabbed Jawed and Salman, both resident of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. 

At the time of arrest, the accused were driving  a scooty on the GMS road.  The same scooty was used by the accused in Vivek Vihar chain snatching incident. On search, some chains were also recovered from their possession.  During interrogation, both admitted that they were involved in chain snatching incidents in Dehradun. They used to sell these chains to a jeweler in the neighbouring Saharanpur district.

Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police Sweety Agarwal has congratulated the police team involved in the nabbing of chain snatchers.
