Two booked for abetting woman’s suicide

Chamba, February 23

A woman’s husband and father-in-law were booked for abetting her to commit suicide at Dalla village in Churah subdivision of the district, a police report said here today. Following a quarrel, the woman consumed some poisonous substance and died yesterday.

The report said a case in this connection had been registered under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC at the Tissa police station on a complaint by the victim’s brother Mohan Lal. She was married to Karam Singh 12 years ago.

It was alleged in the complaint that her husband Karam Singh and father-in-law Lehnu Ram used to harass her and mentally torture her.—OC
