Truck driver shot at over chapati at Sector 26 dhaba

CHANDIGARH: A truck driver was seriously injured after he was shot at in the stomach by an unknown person at a dhaba over a petty issue at the Transport Chowk area in Sector 26 on Sunday night.

A truck driver was seriously injured after he was shot at in the stomach by an unknown person at a dhaba over a petty issue at the Transport Chowk area in Sector 26 on Sunday night.

According to police sources, the victim has been identified as Harvir, who is in his mid-thirties.

The sources said the incident took place at around 10.30 pm when the victim and the accused were having dinner at the dhaba with their friends.

Guddu, an eyewitness, who was also at the dhaba, said the accused ordered the waiter for a chapati. The waiter, however, took some time and first served the chapati to the victim.

Annoyed over this, the accused entered into an argument with the victim. Following this, he shot at the victim. The accused sped away from the spot in his Tata Safari.

People sitting at the dhaba informed the police about the incident. The police reached the spot and rushed the victim to the PGI where his condition is stated to be critical. The victim was under treatment till the filing of the story.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case of attempt to murder against the unknown person.

Eyewitnesses told the police that the accused sped away in a SUV bearing a registration number of Chandigarh.
