Chandigarh, May 5

The MC will start a trial run of the first multi-level parking in the city tomorrow.

MC Joint Commissioner Virender Chaudhary said the private company, which had been allotted the contract to run the parking for the initial three months, would start its trial run at  10 am tomorrow.

After the trial run for three days (May 6 to 8), the parking will be inaugurated by UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solankin on May 9.

The company will charge Rs 5 for the first four hours and thereafter Rs 5 for each additional hour.

Meanwhile, Sector 17 traders today met city BJP president Sanjay Tandon and urged him to press for a rollback of the decision of the MC to close down two parking lots in Sector 17.

Tandon said he would meet UT Adviser Parimal Rai tomorrow and take up the issue raised by the traders.

The MC had decided to close down two parking lots —  one near the Sahib Singh showroom and the other near Empire Store —  to popularise the multi-level parking facility.

The Sector 17 traders and the Congress are against the decision of the MC. They are demanding a rollback of decision.
