Traffic snarls mar celebrations

Major city roads, including Ferozepur Road, Pakhowal Road, Chandigarh Road, roads in the Civil Lines area and those leading to Sarabha Nagar, Rajguru Nagar, Aggar Nagar and Daresi Ground, witnessed heavy traffic with residents flocking to the venues for Dasehra celebrations. Marriages being solemnised on this auspicious occasion further deteriorated the situation. Massive traffic jams were reported across the city.

As expected, major venues where effigies of Ravana, Meghnath and Kumbhakaran were burnt, including Daresi Ground, Aggar Nagar and Focal Point, witnessed a large number of visitors. The traffic moved at a snail’s pace. The police were seen regulating the traffic near Chaura Bazar, Ferozepur Road and Sarabha Nagar. The city markets also witnessed heavy rush in the evening.
