Traffic cop injured as car jumps light

CHANDIGARH: A traffic policeman was injured after a car driver allegedly jumped a traffic signal hitting him yesterday.

A traffic policeman was injured after a car driver allegedly jumped a traffic signal hitting him yesterday.

Constable Joginder Singh said the driver of an Ascent car (CH-03Y-2962) sped away after violating traffic rules and also injured Head Constable Iqbal Singh while on government duty near the Sector 22/23 light point. Sources said the police tried to stop the car driver as he jumped the traffic signal.

However, when the policeman came in the way while trying to stop him, he was hit. Fearing the police, the car driver sped away from the spot. A case has been registered.
