Ludhiana, January 15

A Hindi comedy play, “Tota Maina Ki Kahani”, was staged at Guru Nanak Bhawan last evening. The staging of the play was organised by the Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam. Besides taking a dig at modern-day love marriages, the play made the audience ponder over the “fickleness” of love.

In the play, a young couple-Gaurav (Gaurav Sharma) and Pari (Kajal)-get bore of each other after their marriage and think the divorce only way out. The father of the boy, Satya Prakash (Mahesh Thakur) and girl’s mother Manorama (Himani Shivpuri) try to enact a drama of their own to expedite the divorce of the couple to make them realise the importance of marriage. Later, they decide not to part from each other.

The audience, comprising several industrialists, had a hearty laugh. “The youth indeed need to understand the meaning of relationships and marriage,” Ravinder, a resident said. “It was nice to see Himani Shivpuri and Mahesh Thakur. I have only seen them on television or in movies but they were brilliant on the stage too,” Bina Khanna, another resident said.
