Chandigarh, February 22

The Civil Dispensary in Sector 49, which was inaugurated by MP Kirron Kher, in November last year, is still not operational.

The dispensary was inaugurated just days before the code of conduct came into force for the MC elections last year. But so far, neither doctors nor other staff  have been posted there. No machines have been installed so far.

Area BJP councillor Heera Negi had recently raised the issue in the MC House meeting.

Negi said as there were no machines and doctors, the area residents were not benefitting from the dispensary. She had taken up the issue with the MC and UT officials but in vain, Negi said.

The BJP leaders, including Kher and former Mayor Arun Sood had inaugurated the project to take the credit of the project before the MC poll.

Box: Rs 2.39 crore was spent on the construction of dispensary

The Civil Dispensary in Sector 49 of 1.25 acre was constructed at a cost of Rs 2.39 crore, including entrance, waiting area, porch, laboratory, injection room, doctor room, minor OT, sterilisation room, store, dressing room, malaria lab, vaccination/immunisation/family welfare room, Dot centre, ‘chowkidar’ room, registration room, old-age room and toilet blocks for men and women.
