Shimla, October 15

The government will consider transferring the land of Maharishi Valmiki Temple, Krishnanagar (Shimla), to the Valmiki community. This was stated by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today.

He also assured them that they would not be asked to vacate their sheds till they get their own houses.

Speaking at the ‘Prakat Utsava’ organised by the Valmiki Sabha, Shimla, as part of the Valmiki Jayanti celebrations, he asked the sabha to submit documents to the government for the transfer of temple land to the sabha, adding that the government would sympathetically take a decision on the issue.

Expressing concern over the delay of construction of housing colony in the ward, he said the authorities would be directed to accelerate the work and also make proper provision of basic amenities and beautification of the area.
