Destiny has its own beautiful ways to shape the lives of people. Harpreet Singh had his sights on becoming a software engineer and did his post-graduation from Pune, but his dexterity with the camera took him to different levels. Hailing from a farming community, he was given the pseudo name of ‘Harp Farmer’ and today he is well-known by this name.
He got hitched on to photography very early, mostly capturing the beautiful Punjabi landscape in its various hues and even ran a very successful blog. Solo exhibitions by him at PAU Ludhiana, Chandigarh and Amritsar were a huge hit. During this time, he got obsessed with self-portraits and tried capturing different images with different kinds of styles of beard, hair and turbans; these became so popular that youngsters were vying to have the ‘Harp Famer’ look. His Facebook page and YouTube have helped him reach out to the younger generation. Even today, the Congress party is using the image for their campaign. Earlier, Micromax mobiles took this image to woo their Punjabi customers!
From photography, Harpreet got into shooting music videos and made 25-30 of them; the one with Satinder Sartaj being his favourite. The, the 30-year-old came in front of the camera as an actor! And his 2016 offering is Love Marriage while two Punjabi movies — Waer (enmity) and Kuwela (Porch) — are in post-production stages.
