As many as 489 students were felicitated for excelling in academics at the 16th annual prize distribution ceremony of The Asian School here today.

While 135 students were awarded the Governor’s award, 202 students got the Principal’s award and 109 bagged the teacher’s award. Forty three students were given the HRT award for consistent progress in all subjects.

Chief guest Raj Kumar Negi, Commandant, BSF, Dehradun, lighted the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the ceremony. He gave away the Governor’s awards. Negi emphasised on the importance of discipline in students’ life. Principal AK Das presented him with a memento.

The audience was treated to a delightful dance and musical performances by the students from the junior, middle and senior sections.

Principal AK Das, while presenting the academic report for 2015-16, said the CCE system was being followed in the school as per the CBSE norms. The emphasis was on the overall development of students wherein the scholastic, co-scholastic and non-scholastic areas of participation of students received equal attention. He emphasised the role of the parents in the overall development of students and said, “The need of the hour is to sense the importance of the association of parent-teachers society to help students grow.”
