Jwaharke (Mansa), February 4

Tension prevailed at Jwaharke village in Mansa on Saturday morning after SAD workers had a heated argument with Gurmeet Singh, officiating granthi of the village gurdwara, and allegedly snatched the mike from him.

Making an announcement from the gurdwara, 22-year-old Gurmeet, without naming any party, urged villagers to keep the desecration incidents in mind and the fact that no accused had been arrested in any of these cases.

Following this, the Akali workers reached the gurdwara and allegedly manhandled the granthi; the women present at the gurdwara came to Gurmeet’s rescue.

Later, Gurmeet said, “I did not name any party and only said that voters should keep the desecration cases in the state in mind. I have said only what various Sikh preachers have been saying.”

Kotdharmu SHO said SAD’s Gurjit Singh had lodged a complaint. “We are verifying the complaint but have found nothing objectionable in the announcement.”
