Technical education a priority: Bali

The government will strengthen the technical education system and impart quality technical education to the youth so that they have a bright future.

GS Bali, Technical Education, Transport and Food and Civil Supplies Minister, said this here today while inaugurating the 27th Five-Day State-level Sports Meet (men) 2016 at ITI, Shahpur. He said with the expansion of the technical education system, industrial houses were getting skilled workers.

Bali said technical education was the need of the hour and the focus of the government was on improving its standards further. He asked students to maintain the sports spirit and announced that those who would be selected for the nationals be provided Rs. 50,000.

As many as 210 students were participating in the sports meet from all 12 districts. He said with the support of Indian Industrial Development Bank, ‘Kaushal Vikas Yojna’ would be started at 19 different places, including the ITI Shahpur. Earlier, Bali inaugurated a multi-purpose building in ITI-Shahpur which was constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore and planted a tree on the campus. He said a hostel would be constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore in Govt College, Shahpur, and announced additional funds of Rs 50 lakh for for hostel.

He also announced Rs. 21 lakh for the construction of the administrative block of the Shahpur ITI and Rs 4 lakh for its furniture. He announced that a bus service between Shahpur and Haridwar would be started shortly.

SK Lakhanpal, principal of the ITI, welcomed the chief guest and other guests. Bali announced that a rally against the Modi government for its “anti-people” policies would be held here on May 10.

Protest against Centre on May 10

Dharamsala: The Congress will launch an agitation against the alleged victimisation of party president Sonia Gandhi by the Narendra Modi government. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Transport and Technical Education GS Bali stated this while talking to mediapersons in Shahpur today.

The minister said in the first phase, the Kangra Congress would hold a protest at Dharamsala on May 10. “I will join the agitation to be held on May 10,” he said.

The minister claimed that the NDA government was raking up the issue of the Agusta deal to divert the attention of people from its act of misusing Article 356 of the Constitution and trying to topple the Congress government in Uttarakhand. “The NDA government was on the backfoot over the issue as even the High Court of Uttarakhand has termed the move illegal,” Bali said.
