After a meeting with Additional Chief Secretary (Home) PK Dass here today over cases registered against innocent persons during the recent Jat agitation, members of the Jat Yuva Ekta Manch (JYEM) expressed dissatisfaction and announced to continue their peaceful protest. They also sought time to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in this regard.

Dass said that he had clarified all things to the JYEM members and assured all cooperation in the ongoing investigations.

“Since Dass did not assure us any quick action over our demands, we are not satisfied and want to meet the CM at the earliest. Our peaceful protest will continue in front of the Jat Bhawan in Rohtak till our meeting with the CM,” said Satish Rana, convener of the JYEM.

The main demands of the JYEM include withdrawal of cases registered against innocents and their release from jails and compensation to the next of kin of those killed during the agitation.

“I have clarified that the police will not harass any innocent person. But we cannot withdraw all cases. I have asked the members for details of the cases wherein innocents have been booked,” Dass said.

The Government could take decision about compensation only after investigation, he said, adding that they wanted to meet the CM which would be conveyed to the Chief Minister.
