A high alert has been sounded after a woman tested positive for swine flu virus in the city.

She is under treatment at a private hospital. Private hospitals have been asked to report suspected cases of swine flu to chief medical officers.

According to information, the patient, a resident of Rajpur road, was admitted to a hospital on February 16. A team of medical officers took her throat swab after she was found swine flu positive. The report from the National Centre for Disease Control also confirmed that the patient was suffering from swine flu.

The Health Department sent throat swab samples of eight suspected patients but reports were negative.

Dr DS Rawat, Director General, Medical, Health and Family Welfare, said the patient had recently returned from Pune. A high alert has been sounded in the state, he added.
