After losing six MLAs to the Congress, the SAD leadership now seems to be serious about checking any more dissidence in the party. This is evident from Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's sudden visit to Dhugga Kalan village today to meet SAD MLA from Sri Hargobindpur Desraj Dhugga, who was said to be planning to leave the party to join the band of dissident MLAs after being denied ticket.

Sukhbir reached Dhugga's house and had a closed-door meeting with him. It seems that Sukhbir succeeded in persuading him to stay as after the meeting, Dhugga said, "I am a dedicated party worker and I stand firmly with the party.”

He added, “Whatever the party orders me to do, I will follow honestly and keep working for the betterment of the party," said Dhugga.

When a query in this regard was posed to Sukhbir, he said Dhugga was an honest party worker who had worked dedicatedly for the betterment of the party. Sukhbir said he was very impressed by the simplicity of Dhugga and it was because of such people that the party was serving people in such a huge manner.
