Sukhbir, Manpreet, Warring can’t vote for themselves

SAD chief Sukhbir Badal, PPCC vice-president Manpreet Singh Badal, IYC chief Amrinder Singh ‘Raja Warring’, Harpreet Singh Kotbhai, Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Bhai Harnirpal Singh ‘Kukku’ and Jagdeep Singh Sandhu are all natives of Muktsar district and contesting the state election, but they will not be able to cast vote to themselves. Reason: They are not registered voters of the constituency they are contesting the poll from.

Both Sukhbir and Manpreet are voters of Badal village in the Lambi Assembly segment, but contesting elections from Jalalabad and Bathinda Urban as SAD and Congress candidates, respectively.

Similarly, Warring is a voter of Muktsar town in Muktsar Assembly constituency, but contesting the elections from Gidderbaha as Congress candidate. Further, Harpreet Singh Kotbhai and Pritam Singh Kotbhai are voters of Kotbhai village in the Gidderbaha Assembly segment, but both are contesting elections against each other from Bhucho Mandi as SAD and Congress candidates, respectively.

Kukku is a voter of Muktsar town in Muktsar Assembly constituency, but contesting the elections from Kotkapura as Congress candidate. Likewise, Sandhu is a voter of Fattanwala village in the Muktsar segment, but contesting the elections from Gidderbaha as an AAP candidate.

Further, Darshan Singh Kotfatta and Ajaib Singh Bhatti, SAD and Congress candidates from the Malout Assembly segment, respectively, too won’t be able to cast their vote to themselves. Kotfatta is a voter of Bathinda Rural constituency and Bhatti is a voter of Bhucho Mandi.

According to the rules, one has to be a voter of the state to contest the Assembly elections, which can be in any part of the state.
