Gandhi to seek Akal Takht help for social cause

Patiala, December 22

Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi will seek the help of Akal Takht for eradicating discrimination based on gender, caste and religion from the state’s villages. The move is aimed at boosting his campaign “Break caste, bind society”.

Dr Gandhi said he would meet Akal Takht jathedar to urge him to spread the message of equality, as was preached by the Sikh gurus.

Addressing a press conference here today, Dr Gandhi said Sikhism, in the time of gurus, treated every human being equally but a handful of people had “misinterpreted” the religion and created a “void” among people. — TNS
