A 31-member team of MPs comprising Parliamentary consultative committee on internal security reached Punjab today to assess the internal security in the border state and find ways to curb cross-border terror that is now spilling in the state.

The group reached the state this morning and visited border posts in Gurdaspur and Pathankot. They will be visiting posts in Amritsar tomorrow and will also be given a detailed presentation by Punjab Police, IB and BSF on internal security.

The Punjab Police DGP Suresh Arora and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Jagpal Sandhu will be giving a detailed presentation to the delegation, in Amritsar tomorrow.

Sources say the Punjab government will be raising the issue of porous border, lack of BSF personnel at the border and the acquisition of land along the border. The consultative committee will then be submitting a report to the Union Home Minister, who will then submit it to the Prime Minister.
