Storm hits power supply in Solan

Electricity and BSNL Internet services remained disrupted in several parts of Solan and its surrounding areas today, inconveniencing the users.

With a storm striking the area in the day, several trees fell on power lines at Dharampur, Shilli, Barog and other areas, disrupting power supply in several places, said Superintending Engineer Dheeraj Mittal. He said the technical staff had been rushed to rectify the faults and supply had been restored in Kasauli and Dharampur while work was underway in the other places.

Earlier, a major snag had also hit the main grid causing power shutdown and later some trees fell on the power lines, causing disruption of power for several hours.

The Internet services had been hit in Kasauli, Dagshai , Dharampur and Solan since last evening and these were restored this evening. Banking services were specially hit as little work could be executed in the absence of power and internet.

Subscribers said such snags had become routine in the BSNL and their services were far from satisfactory.
