After 23 years, some NGOs including Sarbat Da Bhala Trust and Ludhiana Bhalai Manch installed the statue of legendary Punjabi folk singer Lal Chand Yamla Jatt at a park near Inter State Bus Terminal. The Yamla Jatt Park was also redeveloped by the Municipal Corporation. The statue is made by the artist Manjit Singh.

Earlier in 1994, a statue of Yamla Jatt was installed outside the bus stand but the authorities removed it while constructing a flyover in front of the bus stand. An NGO Ludhiana Bhalai Manch took initiative to redevelop the park and Sarbat Da Bhala installed a 7-feet statue of Yamla Jatt.

GK Singh Dhaliwal, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation unveiled the statue. A cultural function was also organised.

Gurbhan Singh Gill, former president, Punjabi Sahit Akademi said Lal Chand Yamla Jatt was known as the developer of modern Tumbi (music instrument). “He was born in Bhagowal village, district Sialkot of Western Punjab. His family migrated in 1947.
