The state government is soon going to launch ‘Food Net’ to ensure transparency and prevent the leakage and diversion of the farmers’ produce, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said here today.

The Chief Minister, who was here to lay the foundation stone of a PWD rest house and start automation of fair price shops, said under the Food Net programme, the entire details right from the sowing of seeds to the storage of produce in godowns would be recorded. Further, this programme would be linked with fair price shops, he added.

He distributed 25 kg of wheat, 2 kg of sugar and seven litres of kerosene oil among five beneficiaries of Panchkula under the public distribution system by using the point sales device (POSD).

The automation of fair price shops aims at ensuring the delivery of ration to real beneficiaries under the Food Security Act . The automation of fair price shops would be implemented in five districts of Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal and Panipat. It would be rolled out in the entire state by the end of this fiscal.
