The Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (UPP) today accused the Harish Rawat government of patronising liquor, land and quarrying mafia in the state.

Addressing a press conference shortly after the conclusion of the party meeting here today, UPP president PC Tiwari alleged that the state government was patronising liquor, land and sand mafia. He asserted that the attack by the quarrying mafia on UPP general secretary Prabhat Dhyani in Kumaon revealed that the mafia was active in the state and could go to any extent to eliminate those opposing them.

He said the ongoing agitation against the quarrying mafia in Haridwar and Maletha showed its growing influence in the governance of the state.

Tiwari said both the BJP and Congress had only befooled the people of Uttrakhand. He even accused both the factions of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal of having a history of siding with either the BJP or Congress and thus betraying the cause of people of Uttarakhand.

Tiwari also took the opportunity to criticise the Modi government at the Centre. He said it had failed on all fronts in its one year rule till now.

Uttarakhand Parivartan Party’s General Secretaries Prabhat Dhyani and Anita Nautiyal, Dehradun district president Kuldeep Madhwal and party’s national and international affairs convener Suresh Nautiyal were among those present on the occasion.
