State constable brings laurels, wins gold

Uttarakhand police constable Amit Chetri has won gold in the body building event in the World Police and Fire Games -2015, being held in Virginia province of the United States of America.

A total of 10,000 players from 90 countries are taking part in this biennial sport event, features 63 disciplines. The event began this month on June 26 and will conclude on July 6.

Amit’s coach Mukesh Pal said he won the gold in 100 kg body building category.

The coach said Chetri had been preparing for the mega police event for the past one year and now after winning the gold he had succeeded in his mission.

Director General of Police BS Sidhu has announced a cash prize of Rs 20,000 for Amit.

The DGP has also written to the state government for a minimum prize of Rs 5 lakh to Amit Chetri, so that he can prepare well for forthcoming sports events.

Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Sweety Aggarwal expressed her happiness on Amit’s achievement.
