Dehradun, September 22

The state BJP will reduce the strength of its district units from 23 to 13 to increase efficiency. This was stated by the state BJP president Ajay Bhatt while addressing mediapersons here today. He said the decision was taken in accordance with the suggestions given by party’s national president Amit Shah during his two-day visit.

Bhatt said, “During the deliberations it emerged that there should be 13 party units for the state’s 13 districts. Since the inception of the BJP, the party had 23 units, but now these units will be assimilated for greater administrative ease and cohesion. If need be, we will add one extra unit from either the MC or towns.”

He said the re-organisation process will start after the national executive of the BJP from September 24 to 25 in Delhi.

Further, Bhatt said the party would use latest technology for enhanced communication. “We will soon start video conference facility, which will help us hold day-to-day communication with the office bearers of our district units. We have already set up e-library and the facility will be extended to district units also,” he said.

Bhatt also criticised the state Congress leadership for needlessly making light of Amit Shah’s visit to Dehradun. “The Congress leadership is frustrated as our national president’s visit has boosted the morale of party workers and leaders. They are enthused after his visit, which will only spell trouble for the Congress,” said Bhatt.

He also said that the Congress leadership had no right to comment on the arrangements made for Shah’s visit as all payments were made by the party through cheques. “We have internal audit too,” he said.
