Employees of the Uttaranchal Roadways Employees boycotted work, paralysing the bus service here today. 

The buses remained stationed at depots  in Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kotdwar  and Roorkee, causing inconvenience to commuters. 

The employees also held a protest at the ISBT. They have been demanding promotion, timely salaries and operation of buses on new routes.  

Last night, officials of the department held talks with the union leaders, but after two rounds of talks, things did not work out.

The passengers were a harassed lot as buses to Chandigarh, Gurugram, Dharamsala and other places did not operate.
