Residents of Khurrampur village of the district led by CPM leader Shradha Nand Solanki today handed over a memorandum addressed to CM Manohar Lal Khattar to Divisional Commissioner Chander Prakash against the acquisition of 300 acres of agricultural land by the district administration on January 8.

Villagers alleged the administration tried to acquire the land without serving notices on them. They claimed the authorities concerned used tractors and other machinery to destroy the crop spread over 300 acres. Farmers said the administration could have waited till the harvesting of the crop.

They also demanded treatment of villagers injured in the lathicharge and withdrawal of cases against them.

A team of district officials led by SDM Nishant Yadav took possession of 300 acres of agriculture land in the village on January 8, for the construction of Kundli-Ghaziabad-Pawal Expressway.

The district administration claimed the land belonged to the gram panchayat and was illegally occupied by some villagers. It further claimed the villagers were given prior notices to vacate the land.

The case will come up for hearing in the court of the Divisional Commissioner, Rohtak, on January 19.
