A 46-year-old man, Pawan Kumar, was bludgeoned to death by his 23-year-old son after he denied him permission to ride a mobike at Ramgarh village here today.

In a fit of rage, Ankush, son of the victim, hit his father on the head with an iron rod after damaging the bike. The victim succumbed to his head injuries after he was admitted to the General Hospital, Sector 6, here. Ankush has been arrested by the police.

“Ankush, who was reportedly under the influence of liquor, asked his father to give him the keys of the motorcycle as he had to go to his friend’s place to deliver an item,” said in charge of the Ramgarh police post, ASI Gulab Singh.

Pawan refused, stating that he would not ride carefully and damage the motorcycle. Ankush had heated arguments with his father. He then damaged the vehicle parked in the courtyard of the house.

An iron pipe in the bike came off when Ankush damaged the vehicle. When snubbed, the boy hit his father on the head repeatedly with the iron pipe, said the official.

Family members were inside the house when the incident took place. “Even in our wildest imaginations, we could not think that Ankush would deal fatal blows to his father,” said Raj Kumar, a relative.

The deceased is survived by three sons. Ankush was the eldest of all and married. He has a son also.

Impulse control disorder

Dr BS Chavan, Head of the Psychiatry Department at the GMCH, Sector 32, said, “Such people either have impulse control disorder or intermittent explosive disorder. They fail to resist their impulse or control their emotions, and in order to give vent to their frustration, they either get violent on others or hurt themselves. Such persons are dangerous.”
