Snow being cleared at Kedarnath

DEHRADUN: Following heavy snowfall in higher reaches of Garhwal, including Kedarnath, the Rudraprayag district authorities have started the clearing of snow in order to ensure that there is no halt to construction activities being undertaken at Kedarnath.

Following heavy snowfall in higher reaches of Garhwal, including Kedarnath, the Rudraprayag district authorities have started the clearing of snow in order to ensure that there is no halt to construction activities being undertaken at Kedarnath.

As many as five development projects are underway in Kedarnath the foundation stones for which were laid by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to Kedarnath. Since then the state government has been leaving no stone unturned to ensure speedy conduct of works.

The Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, which has played a key role in the reconstruction activities in Kedarnath post 2013 disaster, has started clearing snow from the paths to ensure unhindered conduct of construction works for the projects.

Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mangesh Gildhiyal held that snow at the sites, where constructions are being undertaken is being removed besides clearing snows from the approach roads.

He said all efforts have been undertaken to ensure that speedy construction takes place and winter snowfall does not become an hindrance.
