Two city residents fell prey to snatchers last night. While a mobile phone was snatched from a man, a purse containing cash was snatched from a woman.

According to the police, three scooter-borne snatchers targeted Ram Milan, a resident of Mauli Complex. The accused snatched a mobile phone from the victim at the Modern Housing Complex (MHC), Mani Majra, around 8.45 pm. The victim was returning home from Pipliwala town on a bicycle. He stopped at the MHC to answer a phone call, when the miscreants came and snatched his phone and sped away from the spot.

The victim failed to note down the registration number of the scooter.

The police were informed who visited the spot. A case has been registered at the Mani Majra police station.

In another incident, two youths riding a scooter snatched a purse from Devisha around 10.45 pm. The purse contained Rs 2,025, an ATM card and important documents.

The victim, a resident of Sector 40, was targeted near a temple in Sector 40.

Sources said the victim could not note down the registration number of the grey scooter. The police were informed, who have initiated an investigation into the matter.

The police said they were scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area.
