Shimla, March 29

Despite the fact that residents of Shimla are struggling for water, the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) and the state government are busy in blame game. This was stated by district BJP president Sanjay Sood.

Alleging that the SMC had failed on all fronts and was unable to provide water to residents, Sood said the jaundice outbreak in which many person lost their lives was still afresh in the minds of Shimlaites and demanded clarification from the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor on the issue.

Accusing the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor of misguiding the public in this election year, the BJP leaders asked what the city had gained from their foreign tours. He said toilets were in a deplorable condition but no action had been taken. Cleanliness had taken a back seat and residents of the “Queen of Hills” were struggling for basic amenities.

The public wanted to know where the taxes paid by them were being spent, said district BJP spokesman Karan Nanda, adding that rather than providing services the SMC was issuing notices to residents on petty issues.
