Skits on social evils staged on annual day

The 63rd annual day function of Nirmala Inter College was celebrated with fervour and gaiety at Barlowganj in Mussoorie on Saturday.

Tulsi Mednanani, Deputy Director of the Lal Bhadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), was the chief guest on the occasion. He inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Mednanani motivated students through an anecdotal tale. She said eying the goal with self-confidence was the mantra to reach one’s destination.

She commended the efforts of the students for presenting a spectacular cultural folk and dance event. She also appreciated the staff for inculcating sense of value and tradition among the students.

Mednanani, along with special guest former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, gave away citations and awards to the winning students.

Gunsola said those students who had received awards would be motivated to excel in their career.

Earlier, the function started with carols in praise of Jesus Christ, following which tiny tots displayed their talent by performing nursery rhymes.

The students presented several skits highlighting various social menaces present in the society, along with Garhwali and Himachali folk dance items. A short play titled ‘Rani Baurani’ was presented by senior students and was much appreciated.

College principal Brother KJ Anthony and manager JC Carol felicitated teachers Rajesh Saxena and Shakuntala Chamoli and senior accountant Satey Singh Payal for completing 25 years of service to the college.

Anthony presented the annual report highlighting the achievement of the school. He thanked the guests, staff and students for their support during the function.
