Sisters jump into canal, one feared dead

Two minor sisters, natives of Husnar village, allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into the Rajasthan Feeder canal near Gurusar village in Gidderbaha subdivision this evening. Manjeet Kaur (16) was rescued by passersby, but Kali Kaur (14) was feared drowned.

Sources said the girls decided to take the extreme step after a quarrel with their brother. Gobinder Singh, DSP, Gidderbaha, said, “We are investigating the matter. One girl has been saved and we are trying to trace her sister.”
