Chandigarh, May 3

A number of Sikh organisations, including SAD (Amritsar), United Akali Dal, Akali Dal (Panch Pardhani), Dal Khalsa, Damdami Taksal, Ajnala and Akhand Kirtani Jatha have supported the ongoing fast unto death of Surat Singh Khalsa. His main demand is the release of the Sikh detainees.

These organisations passed a number of resolutions in support of the fast unto death of Khalsa and sought action against the police officials, who allegedly kept Khalsa’s son Ravinder Pal Singh in illegal custody and beat him up. The representatives of these organisations would reach Hasanpur village, where Khalsa is observing a fast, on May 10.

Earlier Khalsa was on fast from January 16 till February 27 when he was taken in preventive custody. He was force-fed through his nose for two months at the Civil Hospital in Ludhiana.
