Agitating Shiksha acharyas held a demonstration outside the residence of Education Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani demanding re-appointment in government schools across the state. The protesters decided to intensify the agitation if the Congress-led state government did not accept their year-long pending demand.

The agitators under the banner of the Shiksha Acharya and Anudeshak Sangathan gathered at Naithani’s residence and created ruckus during the protest. Policemen and protesters had a heated argument as the latter were told not to hold protest outside the residence of Naithani.

The cops arrested nearly two dozen protesters during agitation. The agitators lamented that association members had submitted a memorandum highlighting their demand which include appointment of 1,745 qualified teachers in government schools, but the state government had not taken steps to fulfill their pending demands.

Devendra Singh Bisht, president, Shiksha Acharya and Anudeshak Sangathan while addressing to agitators said demonstrations were held many times since 2008, but to no avail. He said association members were given false assurance that their demands would be fulfilled soon.

Ashok Gupta, Reema Rawat, Laxmi, Ramkrishan Mamgain, Sumitra, Alka Kothari, Ratti Ram, Dilip, Khem Singh and Rajesh took part in the agitation.
