Shahpur–Haridwar bus flagged off

Kangra: Himachal transport minister GS Bali on Tuesday flagged off the Shahpur-Haridwar bus from Shahpur and said that a Volvo bus service connecting tourist town of Dharamsala with tourist city of Agra would be started shortly.

Kangra: Himachal transport minister GS Bali on Tuesday flagged off the Shahpur-Haridwar bus from Shahpur and said that a Volvo bus service connecting tourist town of Dharamsala with tourist city of Agra would be started shortly. Bali was addressing a public meeting at Shahpur today.

He said that if appropriate land was made available at Shahpur a modern bus stand with all latest amenities would be constructed. He said that a fleet of 3100 HRTC buses was serving the people of the state which included 100 Volvo buses. He said that providing safe, comfortable and cheap bus service to the women of the state was priority of the government. Women passengers are given rebate of 25 per cent in bus fare in all ordinary buses. Students of the government schools and kendrya vidialayas are provided free bus service from their homes to the schools.

He announced that a rain shelter will be constructed at the cost of Rs. 5 lakhs at Shahpur. A bus service connecting Shahpur with Tatapani via Rait will started within a week. He flagged off a bus from Kalyara to Tanda to connect Dharamsala Tanda via Kalyara. — OC
