Diwali is all about celebration, good food, togetherness and beautiful homes. It’s the time when you meet with your friends and relatives, exchanges gifts and have a cheerful chat over the desserts, drinks and poker. When you are bringing out your cleanliness frenzy self, focusing so much on every corner of your house, why forget the center table? The center table should look extra vibrant because that’s where you would be having Diwali-time chats and games. The colours and mood of the festivity should reflect on your table to make it a perfect pitch for the festive cheer. Here are some ideas to create a statement with your center table this Diwali:

Let the theme speak: To decide a theme you must keep in mind the mood you want to create with your decor. Give the hint of your theme on the center table, let it speak for itself and help the entire decor to bring the sense of unity. All elements used on the table should fit into the chosen theme. It will not just bring an extra charm to your house, but also make it appealing to your guests to enjoy sitting around it.

Show off some DIY skills: Bring out the designer in you! Nothing looks as beautiful as handcrafted accessories. With social media overflowing with DIY tips, there is no dearth of inspiration be it handmade candles, flowers vases or table cloths. So, why not flaunt your talent in front of your guests with some amazing ideas for your centre table.

Experiment with combos: Using a particular theme for your home decor is one thing, but, experimenting with the concept revitalises your idea. Mixing and matching colours or products always works when done thoughtfully. Think about a colour contrast or mixing up of two different sets of table accessories. When a few unusual pieces are put together, or the colour contrast departs from the colour theme of the house, a striking effect is created.

Personalise it: No matter how thematic you make your decorations, it is the small personal touches that add the “X-factor” to your decor. Remember, that a table without personal touch will tend to look mechanical and avoid treading that track.

Detail matters: While working on anything, never forget or overlook small details. Since, it is Diwali decor, never forget to add lights in your decor accessories. For a centre table, tea lights can create an ethereal ambience. Of course, no table decor is complete without flowers or flower petals. And, a beautiful hand-crafted or ethnic bowl with dry fruits in it or to keep your cards on, would make the feel come alive.

To have a right festive feel it is essential to bring across the correct mood. Table decoration is very important to have a lasting impression of your house, but one thing to keep in mind is, it should never go overboard. Never over do the design by adding too many embellishments, don’t forget people have to use the table too.

Ensure that the festive decor reflects Indianness in the choice of accessories. Handicraft items from different regions of the country are the best options to create an Indian ambience. Tribal handicrafts from Bastar, Bidar or colourful Rajasthani figurines or lamp shades or vibrant Gujarati runners and mats are ideal to create a festive feel.
