Separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik today made a joint appeal to the people to pass a resolution “favouring the peaceful solution” of the Kashmir issue.

The separatists appealed to the people to pass the resolution at all major mosques in the region on Friday.

In a joint statement issued by the trio, the separatists also called for a peaceful resolution of the Palestine issue and said both regions had “many similarities”.

The separatist leaders, who are making attempts to unite on a series of issues after remaining divided and bickering against each other for more than a decade, cautioned the state government and said the proposed construction of residential colonies for retired soldiers and exclusive settlements for Kashmiri Hindus would never be allowed.

They also called for a ban on sale and consumption of liquor, stating that the “stand of the government in this regard is against religious sentiments of Muslim population in state”.
