Hamirpur, July 3

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Hamirpur, Shiv Kumar Sharma said the town would have extra security cover at night and patrolling would also be increased to check crime.

He said police posts would be placed on the four corners of the town at night to check criminal activities. The police had apprehended two persons involved in car thefts and recovered a vehicle from their possession. Though the police had also made it mandatory for migratory labourers to register themselves, the public should also inform the police as and when they hire services of unknown persons.

He said Information Technology (IT) had started new trends of crime, including ATM cloning, bank account swapping, insurance and loan frauds and the most serious was misuse of social media. People should never disclose their electronic antecedent to anyone in any case. Fake call rackets had robbed many of lakhs of rupees and the police had very little to do in such cases. Hence, people should be more careful of such calls, Sharma added. — OC
