Chandigarh, April 27

A day after Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the rise of dummy schools in the city, the affiliation of SD Senior Secondary School, Sector 24-C, Chandigarh, has been cancelled. According to officials of the Education Department, a notice in this regard was sent to the school by the department following a nod from the the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today.

The officials conceded that the process for the cancellation of affiliation of The British School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, for Classes XI and XII was on and soon after a nod from the CBSE, a notice would be issued to the school.

In January this year, a team of the Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) had inspected the two schools and found that these had given dummy admissions to students in Classes XI and XII. The CCPCR had recommended to the CBSE to take action against the two schools for anomalies in the admissions to Classes XI and XII.
