Mohali, December 20

Former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today strongly condemned the attack in Jammu on former cricketer and BJP leader Navjot Sidhu. Amarinder was in the city to collect his passport from the Mohali district court. He said, “If the attack is the handiwork of SAD, as claimed by Sidhu, then it is shameful.”

The Mohali court of additional district and session judge had recently given permission to the Congress leader to go abroad. Capt has been facing trial in connection with the Amritsar Improvement Trust land scam case.

Lashing out at the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Partap Singh Bajwa, Amarinder said he never considered Bajwa as the party’s president.

On the forthcoming Municipal Corporation elections in the state, he said the Congress was ready for the MC elections. “The Congress has a good chance as the people are fed up with the Akali Dal’s ‘loot’ in the state. My viewpoint is that the candidates should be chosen only on the recommendation of local leaders at the district level,” said Amarinder Singh.
