Samples of dead crows found in Tarn Taran and migratory birds in Faridkot have been tested negative for avian influenza virus (H5N1). The report of samples of bar-headed geese found dead in Jind district of Haryana is awaited.

Dr Vinay Mohan, Joint Director, Regional Diseases Diagnostic Laboratory, Jalandhar, said: “We have also received samples of chicken that died mysteriously in Shimla last night. The samples were sent to the National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases Laboratory, Bhopal.” — TNS
