SAD gears up for poll, divides constituency into 15 zones

The SAD has divided all 75 villages of the Dhuri constituency into 15 zones for the forthcoming Dhuri Assembly by-election. Ministers, chief parliamentary secretaries and some senior leaders have been appointed in charge of these zones. Besides, the charge of every village has been given to an MLA. Those in charge of the zones and MLAs will remain present in the constituency till April 9.

In the first phase of the election tour, SAD patron and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will also camp in the constituency to campaign on March 31, April 1 and April 2. On March 31, he will campaign in eight villages. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal is likely to start campaigning in the constituency from April 4.

Education Minister Dr Daljit Cheema, who is also the election in charge of the SAD, said senior leaders had been deputed to visit door to door and hold meetings in different wards in Dhuri town. He said most MLAs had already arrived in the town.

Sikander Maluka, Surjit Rakhra, Ajit Kohar, Sohan Thandal, Bikram Majithia (all ministers), Balwinder Bhunder, Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Sucha Singh Langah and Sewa Singh Sekhwan (all senior leaders) are some of those made zonal in charge.
