The state government has sanctioned approximately Rs 25 crore for the widening of the Khundimaral-Salooni-Goli road under the roads network widening plan during the current fiscal year. The road will be a major link between the Dalhousie-Chamba tourist circuit of the state and the exquisite Kistwar region of Jammu and Kashmir.

This was stated by Dalhousie MLA Asha Kumari, who is also secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), while addressing a gathering at Pudhan village falling under Salooni subdivision of Chamba district after inaugurating an ayurvedic dispensary.

She said in the first phase, a 15-km stretch from Khundimaral to Priyungal of the Khundimaral-Salooni-Goli road would be widened and upgraded.

Asha Kumari said the widening and upgrading of this road would give a much-needed fillip to tourism activities in the picturesque valley of Bhandal of the district. The road would also provide a link to inaccessible habitations in far-flung areas of Chamba district.

Asha Kumari said the remaining parts of Sanooh panchayat would be connected with a motorable road network. The construction of roads would facilitate farmers and commuters, especially agriculturists and horticulturists, in transporting their produce to markets, she said.

She also announced the construction of additional rooms for Gadhetra, Darbheran and Priyungal schools and assured the upgrade of Government High School at Sanghni to the senior secondary level.

Earlier, Asha Kumari dedicated the Gaggal bridge constructed across the river Siul to residents of far-off areas of the district.
