Rohtang gets heavy snowfall

SHIMLA: With high and other hills of the state experiencing fresh spell of snow and lower parts being lashed by rain, there has been a sudden fall in the temperature, resulting in a fresh cold wave griping most parts of the state.

With high and other hills of the state experiencing fresh spell of snow and lower parts being lashed by rain, there has been a sudden fall in the temperature, resulting in a fresh cold wave griping most parts of the state.

The Rohtang Pass in Kullu district has already recorded over one foot of snow which is still continuing. Similarly, Kosar and Keylong have recorded over one foot of snow. The Chanchal and Churdhar peaks in Shimla and Solan districts too have had a fresh spell of snow since last night. The higher peaks in Chamba, Pangi and Bharmour have also had snow since last night.

Other lower parts of the state were lashed by rain. Shimla too received intermittent rainfall as the cloud remained overcast throughout the day. According to the local meteorological office, the spell of rain and snow will continue for the next two days.

The minimum temperature recorded in Shimla was 8.3°C, -1.2°C at Keylong, -0.8°C at Kalpa, 5.6 °C at Manali, 8.4°C in Dharamsala, 6.1°C in Mandi, 8.5°C at Dalhousie, 9.2°C in Chamba, 10°C in Solan, 10.8°C at Bhuntar, 12.8°C at Bilaspur, 12.9°C at Hamirpur, 14.2°C in Una and 16.1°C at Nahan.
