Patiala, October 1

With the rise in the number of dengue and chikungunya cases across the district, the health and the MC authorities are on their toes.

As many as 156 cases of dengue and 26 cases of chikungunya have been reported in Patiala, which has become a cause of concern for city residents.

While dengue cases have started coming in since July, chikungunya cases have been reported between August 27 and September 9.

The Health Department has already deployed a rapid response team and a surveillance team in Patiala to treat patients. The teams are also taking precautionary measures to ensure that the diseases do not spread to other areas.

District epidemiologist Gurmanjeet Kaur said “The teams have already covered most of the areas. The teams are even informing the MC authorities about every positive case so that proper fogging could be carried out. We are also accompanying the MC teams for challaning the families from whose houses larva is found”.
